Jamming in Berryland

Another weekend of gardening, and we now have strawberries, raspberries, and three types of blueberries. The strawberries are in one of those fabulous pocket-pots that both Shane and I had when we were kids. So far Lina has refused to even TRY a strawberry from the market, and I’m figuring that she’s just holding out until we grow our own.

Cooper is in for her spay/neuter today. I talked to TGDF earlier, and he said the surgery went well. Uterus AND some testes! That’s my little over-achiever. I’m sure she’s sleeping it off right now. I’ll be able to pick her up tomorrow, assuming everything goes swimmingly until then. I remember picking Lily up after her surgery. It was awful. I regretted forcing the operation upon her. I felt horrible. She couldn’t get up or down the stairs by herself. I was sure that she was in terrible pain. My rational brain shrunk to the size of a pea. All I wanted to do was protect her from immediate discomfort. Never mind the fact that spaying an animal extends her lifespan, etc. All I saw were her big eyes looking up at me. Mama! Owie!

So I’m a little more emotionally prepared this time, and I’m aware that Cooper will soon be running around the house with my slippers again. And attacking the blueberry bushes. And trying to eat Lily’s poop. And settling down only when she’s nestled into my lap.
