First Hospital Stay

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

This past Wednesday, Lina had been feeling a little under the weather, so I wasn’t surprised when she wasn’t excited to help me water the garden in the afternoon. She’d been pretty clingy all day. I was watching her out of the corner of my eye as I watered the blueberries, and noticed that she [...]

Finally, she sleeps

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Just got home from Children’s Hospital. Don’t panic, she’s fine. We’re all completely exhausted, and have only slept a few hours each over the last two days. I’ll post more tomorrow. Right now I’m just so glad to have my family at home.

I can’t believe I forgot this one. Shugah is Lina’s way of pronouncing “yoga.” So now when I leave for the yoga studio in the evenings, I get a sweet kiss and the sound of “shugah mama!” in my ears. I’ll be your shugah mama anytime, little one. Thank you for filling my life with your [...]

Jamming in Berryland

Another weekend of gardening, and we now have strawberries, raspberries, and three types of blueberries. The strawberries are in one of those fabulous pocket-pots that both Shane and I had when we were kids. Vancouver, eh?

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

We spent last weekend in Vancouver BC. We stayed at in a nice little apartment, very cozy with down duvets and a fireplace and a full kitchen and laundry. Right on Stanley Park. Totally lovely. Lina travels well, and was excited by the new environment. She especially loved that the apartment contained a high chair, which [...]

That’s not my puppy

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Earlier today, I bent over to pick up Cooper’s poop, and found myself face to face with a serpent. It whipped menacingly toward me, and I jumped back. I knew what I had to do. Just pick it up in the pooper bag. But for a few long moments, I wasn’t sure if I was [...]

With pretty roombas all in a row

Monday, March 12th, 2007

After much planning and discussing and even some diagramming, our vegetable garden is in! So far we have peas, lettuce, carrots, radishes and spinach planted. Still to come are tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and cucumbers. These will all be surrounded by herbs and garden fairies. Shane built and installed the raised beds, mostly in the pouring [...]

Milk in the batter

One of the gifts Lina received for her birthday was Maurice Sendak’s In The Night Kitchen. Though I’m very familiar with Where the Wild Things Are, I’d never seen or heard of In The Night Kitchen. Auntie Kerry’s eyes widened when she saw Lina unwrap the book. “That’s one of my very favorites!” And if [...]
