Walky McWalkerson
She walks! For those of you who’ve been out of the loop, I thought you’d like to know. The kid walks.
She waddles. Toddles. Legs wide, she roams the house as if looking for a miniature horse to ride. I’m not quite used to it yet, and it’s still strange to have a little creature swaying back and forth across the floor. On the best of days, she does this while singing/babbling sweetly, and I have moments of crystal-clear realization: I have a child.
I know that you thought I knew that. The having a child thing. But I’ve realized that the truly important things in life take me a really, really long time to comprehend. Really long. I’m still working on this one.
So yes, she walks. Usually toward me, but sometimes away. And I encourage, I watch, and I marvel. And I feel like the luckiest mama alive.
