Birthday Grrrl!
Lina’s first birthday was March 1st and her first official birthday party was March 4th. Now I’m finally (belatedly, to use parlance appropriate to the event) getting the pictures up. Lina’s birthday was a workday, and after her morning nap she and her Mama visited me at work and we all went out for some pho. That evening, we had birthday cake (green tea flavor–yum!) and she “opened” her first birthday present (okay, she tore a little bit of paper, got distracted, and then we “helped” her open it).

Unsure what Mama and Papa are so excited about (and even more unsure after she tasted it–the new texture wasn’t exactly a winner)
What now?
Okay, that was fun. What’s next?
On Saturday, we had a birthday party with a fun cupcake theme (including cupcakes from Cupcake Royale in Ballard). Grandma and Grandpa drove down from Bellingham, and Aunt Kerry flew up from Oakland. Omi was there, and cousin Renée and Aunt Tuttie. And our friends Kristine and Mark brought over their daughters, Julia and Mimi. Unfortunately, the Whidbey Island Diemels couldn’t make it–Lina’s cousin McKenna had the flu.

Just left of Stephanie, you can see the present that Lina unwrapped on her birthday: a modern design rocking horse. It’s a copy of a 1950’s classic.

Renée made the cupcake more fun
Lily got some love, too.
Georgia found a place to hide, away from the “crowd”. And no, she’s not allowed on the bed.

Hey Guys!
Just saw the pictures from Lina’s birthday! We were so sorry to miss it! But with McKenna sick, we didn’t want to risk getting other’s sick! We will see you on the 8th!, finger’s crossed no one is sick! Looks as if all had a fun time! and the cupcakes look wonderful! Yum…
See you soon!
Love, Julie and family!
